Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the net early on.

However, Marseille struck twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
